All seams are hand-sewn with Japanese waxed Tiger thread and twin needles.
Features hand-applied patinas on every metal surface that will oxidize and stain the leather as the object ages furthering the unique texture desired by Mitchell Francis. To note, the front hook closure is made from steel and is heated red hot and bent to shape in-house. Trim leather is made from full grain vegetable tanned calfskin with a full grain vegetable tanned cow skin strap with buckle, all finished and polished by hand. Body leather is made from a thick vegetable tanned horse leather rump that is used on the reverse so the shell is exposed and every edge is sanded and burnished with Japanese edge gum. The purpose for using all vegetable tanned leathers is that the tannins will patina and get darker and richer in color with age.
